Location
Precise GPS coordinates stay on your device. Hazy maps them locally to a broad NEA region and sends only that region when requesting air readings. Your saved area stays in local device storage.
Venue ratings
Hazy looks up each venue’s public Google rating by sending the venue name and address through its Convex backend to Google Places. It does not send your GPS coordinates. The rating and review count are cached in Hazy’s database for up to 30 days. When you open a venue’s details, Hazy fetches that venue’s Google photos, reviews and contact details live through the same backend. It does not store individual reviews or Google photos, and it does not send your GPS coordinates.
Air alerts
If you turn on Air alerts, Hazy stores your device’s push notification token and the broad NEA region you chose on its Convex backend, and sends alerts through Expo’s push service. It does not store your GPS coordinates. Turning the switch off deletes the stored token.
Service requests
Photos are loaded from venue operators or their image hosts. Hosting and data providers receive standard request metadata, such as your IP address.
Accounts
Accounts are optional. If you create one, Hazy stores your email address (or the name and email shared by Google or Apple), your home area, language and favourite venues so they sync across your devices. You can delete your account and this data at any time in the app under Settings, then Account.
